Two men killed after 14-foot trench collapses in western Michigan

Authorities say two men died after a trench collapsed in western Michigan.

The victims, aged 59 to 68, were working in the trench when the collapse occurred around 8:30 p.m. The Kent County Sheriff's Office said Friday in Lowell Township, east of Grand Rapids.

The sheriff's office said the men's bodies were recovered from the scene after 2 a.m.

The office said the 14-foot-deep (4.27-meter-deep) trench had been excavated for drainage as the hangar was being built.

The names of the victim were not immediately released. Both men were from Alto.

Representatives said the incident is still under investigation.
