Two Michiganders on first pardon list, commutation of President Joe Biden's sentence

President Joe Biden on Tuesday announced the first pardons and commutations of his presidency, and two Michigan people were on the list.


According to the White House, Biden has pardoned three people and reduced the sentences of 75 others — all accused of nonviolent drug offenses.


On the list was Mario Cruz of Grand Rapids, who was sentenced to 121 months and 3 years of supervised release in 2017. He was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute an unspecified amount of cocaine and heroin. .


He also commuted the sentence of Jesse Alan Tremoy of Boron, Michigan, who was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 5 grams of actual methamphetamine and 50 grams or more of mixed methamphetamine in Tennessee.
