Typhoon Nanmadol disrupts air and rail traffic in Japan

Typhoon Nanmadol swept through western Japan, bringing torrential rain and strong winds Monday, forcing airlines to cancel flights, disrupting trains and knocking out power to more than 300,000 homes.

Authorities warned of floods and landslides, as the season's 14th typhoon moved towards eastern Japan.

And the Japan Meteorological Agency revealed that rainfall of up to 400 millimeters is expected in the Tokai region in central Japan, the stronghold of Japan's industry, over the next 24 hours.
