UAE condemns extremist settlers' storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyard

The UAE strongly condemned, on Monday, the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyard by extremist settlers, under the protection of the Israeli forces.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation reiterated its "steadfast position on the need to provide full protection for Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to stop the dangerous and provocative violations in it."

It also stressed "the need to respect the role of the Kingdom of Jordan in caring for the holy sites and endowments, in accordance with international law and the existing historical situation, and not to prejudice the authority of the powers of the Jerusalem Endowment Administration and the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque."

The ministry called on the Israeli authorities to "reduce the escalation and end the state of tension and congestion." She also stressed the importance of exercising "the utmost restraint, to avoid drifting to new levels of instability," according to WAM news agency.
